We are your cruise experts….
We have personally sailed on more than 100 cruises and visited ports around the world on six star luxury liners such as Crystal and Regent Seven Seas as well as many more cruise lines including Holland America, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Celebrity, Azamara, Norwegian, and Carnival. We have also experienced European River Boats and North American Paddle Wheelers. As no two cruise lines or ships are the same, neither are any two people. We cruise in wheelchair accessible staterooms and explore the ports in a wheelchair or scooter. Our extensive knowledge allows us to match you with the right cruise vacation.
A cruise offers the best possible solution for people with mobility limitations and chronic health problems. The majority of cruise ships now offer excellent wheelchair accessible accommodations in a wide choice of categories (ie: inside, ocean view, veranda, suites). Accessible staterooms are quite spacious with wide entrance and bathroom doors. Bathrooms are equipped with multiple grab bars, roll-in showers, fold-down shower seats, hand-held showerheads and ample turn around space for wheelchairs. Most staterooms have refrigerators for medicine and snacks, lowered closet rods, several phones, emergency call buttons by the bed and in the bathroom and amenities for persons with visual and hearing impairments. The newer ships have multiple accessible public restrooms, special seating in showrooms, lifts for the pool and whirlpool and many other features allowing the disabled guest full access and enjoyment.
Every year, more shore excursions are being offered by the cruise lines that enable the wheelchair traveler to participate. We also maintain a constantly increasing list of tour operators who provide private wheelchair accessible shore excursions around the world.
People with chronic illnesses or disabling conditions are making a safe choice when they choose to cruise. Knowing that your stateroom is close by in case you need or want to rest is very reassuring. A cruise vacation allows you to pace yourself by offering numerous activities. The option to participate is all yours. The television in your stateroom offers first run movies as well as entertaining T.V. shows and closed circuit programming of ship activities including shore talks, shows and other information.
Special dietary concerns can be met with advance planning. Low calorie, low cholesterol choices and sugar free deserts are always available. Cruise ships have outstanding medical facilities onboard staffed with a doctor and nurses who are available 24 hours in case of emergency and during regular hours throughout the day. Travelers using oxygen are welcome onboard and will be informed about authorized oxygen providers. We work, along with the cruise lines, with several medical equipment companies who can rent scooters, wheelchairs, hospital beds, hoyer lifts, bed rails, etc. These products are delivered and set up in your stateroom to ensure your health and comfort while cruising. Service animals are allowed on the majority of cruise ships.
With all the wonderful ships sailing the high seas, how is the average person to know which one to choose? The key to a successful vacation for the disabled traveler is finding a travel agent experienced in working with clients with mobility problems and a good understanding of their needs.
EASY ACCESS TRAVEL fulfills these criteria.
